CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara Review

I’ve had this mascara for a little while now (I honestly think it might be almost empty -- YIPES) so I figure it was time to do a little review for you all!

**I purchased this mascara with my own $$ and all opinions are my own**

ONE COAT:

This mascara is designed to curl your lashes and if you read my Clump Crusher review (if not you can read it here) you already know that my lashes are naturally curly so I was a little hesitant to try this out because I didn’t want any craziness going on. But after looking at the print ad for this mascara in virtually EVERY magazine I had to cave and get it.

Seriously everything about this screams “BUY ME! BUY ME NOW!!”

Anyway...I really liked the effect that one coat gave my lashes. It emphasized the natural curliness of my lashes without going overboard.

TWO COATS:

Two coats gave me some CRAZY length, like touch my eyebrows kind of length! It did clump up a little bit but once the mascara had some time to dry I was able to straighten up some of the clumpy craziness.

LAYERED:

Naturally for the layered look I had to reach for my FAVORITE CoverGirl mascara LashBlast Fusion. I definitely really liked the results from this combo and think it looks the most natural for me. The Fusion gave me just enough definition and then Flamed Out gave me some drama. Love it!

FINAL WORD:
This will definitely be a repurchase when the time comes and will definitely be added to my favorites list. It’s almost perfect because it can give you either natural or dramatic lashes based on how many coats you slap on!

You can get CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara anywhere that sells CoverGirl products!

Handy Dandy Nail Polish Remover Trick

I adore painting my nails, it’s totally my Sunday night treat/therapy. The one thing I absolutely hate doing though is removing my existing nail polish! I go through about 20 million cotton balls to remove just one hand of nail polish and it still feels like I haven’t gotten all of the polish off. Such was my nail polish life...UNTIL...I discovered the wonder of using makeup sponges to remove my polish! **Cue the angels singing!**

All you really need are some makeup sponges I use these ones from Ulta:

and your favorite nail polish remover! I like using the polish remover that comes in the containers that you dip your fingers because then you can really soak the sponge without making a big mess.

Then all I do is put my makeup sponge in the container, screw the lid back on and let it soak up the polish remover. When you take the sponge out make sure you give it a good squeeze over the container to get rid of the excess remover. Then swipe away at your nails!

I love this trick because not only is it quick and easy you can reuse the sponge again and again (I get about 4 nail polish changes out of them). The wedge sponges also come in handy for cleaning up your nail edges.

One word of warning is that the sponge will kind of fall apart and flake a little bit but it’s not terrible!

Let me know if you try this out or if you have any fun little nail polish tricks!

Goners! Products I've Used Up! Part Two

Obviously this is a second part blog post (if you want to find out about some skin care items that I've used up you can read part one here). This post will be all about makeup products that I’ve used up and their repurchasing power. Pictures will link to where you can purchase.

***All items were purchased by me unless otherwise stated***

bareMinerals Well-Rested Face & Eye Brightener
I received this as part of a 500 bonus point gift from Sephora and I loved it! I applied it underneath my foundation and it gave my skin a lovely “lit from within” glow. I received a good sized sample and it lasted for a while, so if you want to try it out I would totally go for a sample first.
REPURCHASING POWER: On my Sephora Wishlist now!

CoverGirl LashBlast Fusion
I love, love, love this mascara! It makes my lashes look A-MA-ZING and the formula is wonderful. It’s just wet enough to be buildable but not so wet that it gives you instant raccoon eyes when you blink.
REPURCHASING POWER: Already did!

CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara
I liked Clump Crusher but I didn’t think it was all that amazing (to all of you Clump Crusher Ravers, I’m sorry **Hangs head**). I reviewed this mascara so I won’t make this one too long (you can read the review here).
REPURCHASING POWER: Unfortunately no.

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer
This is probably my favorite eye primer. It keeps everything exactly where it’s supposed to be and my eye-shadows look just as good at the end of the day as they did when I applied them in the morning. I have never actually bought a full size version of this, because it normally comes as a sample size in Benefit kits and the samples are pretty good size and last a long time.
REPURCHASING POWER: Maybe, if I run out of samples...

bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara
bareMinerals - bareMinerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara
This is a wonderful mascara if you like drier formulas. This was another 500 point bonus from Sephora so I only had a sample size, but it gave really good volume and was easily buildable to get the lashes you want.
REPURCHASING POWER: On my wishlist!

Buxom Insider Eyeliner (Chocolate Citrine)
My hands down favorite eyeliner and eyeliner color! I have quite a few of the Buxom eyeliners and they are amazing. If you like to line your waterline (like me!) they give a very dramatic look, and if you like a traditional line they are good for that too.
REPURCHASING POWER: Um, yeah! I think I may need to stockpile!

There are my makeup empties! What products have you used up? Have you tried anything on my list? Would you repurchase? Let me know!

Feeling a Little Pink

News flash my favorite color is pink! I remember being 5 years old and insisting that I wear a head to toe pink outfit on the my first day of Kindergarten. Thankfully my mom intervened and I looked adorable in a new dress but I still think that the all pink would have made a lasting statement. ANYWAY this post will be just a random hodgepodge of some of my favorite pink items (all pictures will be linky to where you can buy).

So naturally I could go on and on but I feel like I need to reign myself in! For some more “pinkspiration” check out my Pink pinboard here!

Gatsby Inspiration

Oh why thank you Leo! Er..I mean Mr. Gatsby

I know. I know. I'm a little late to the Gatsby party, but to be fair I've been a little busy (this last semester was BRUTAL!!) Anyway, I absolutely love The Great Gatsby and admittedly have a little literary crush on one F. Scott Fitzgerald, so I thought I would compile a little list of some of my favorite "Gatsbyish" items.
**Side note: if you haven't seen it I totally recommend Midnight in Paris a movie by Woody Allen, in which the INCREDIBLY good looking Tom Hiddleston portrays F. Scott Fitzgerald -- seriously made me fall in love with Fitzgerald even more**

Beauty
There is an amazing range of hair ideas and makeup ideas that are so 1920s inspired that it was hard to narrow down my list to just a few favorites.

I absolutely adore all of the retro ruby red lip looks such as this:
Gah! Red Lips!

But alas, ruby red lips are not met for me... I can, however, pull off the more neutral everyday inspired looks such as this:

"Great Gatsby Inspired Makeup" Good for everyday!

Nails

Personally I think one of the easiest ways to rock the Gatsby trend is to take it your fingernails (or toenails if you heart desires). Pinterest has GOBS of nail ideas that range from really intricate designs such as this:
Great Gatsby inspired nails
My pin doesn't link to the original website for this picture -- SORRY!!

To really simple (the ones that I would be able to pull off on my own) like this:
OPI. New years nails

Accessories

So the majority of my favorite Gatsby inspired accessories are shoes...BUT there are some other really great accessories out there too. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Oh, they're so adorable

Sweet Heart Bow Pearl Collar Necklace

Clothing

I really think I was meant to be born in the 1920s..I mean really the fashion was just so....adorable! Some of the inspired clothing ranges from very literal like this:
True to Form Gatsby Look

to everyday wear like this:
Love anything that sparkles : )

The final inspired set is Weddings(!!), now I am not getting married (or anywhere close to walking down the aisle) but if I was to get married soon I could totally see myself having a Gatsby inspired wedding. Because, well the whole princessy ball gown thing isn't really me. Here are a couple of my faves:

Great Gatsby inspired wedding style -- Love the casualness!

So pretty!

These are just a few of my favorite Gatsby Inspired things, you can see even more on my Pinterest Board here. And leave me comments below! What is your favorite era? Did you see The Great Gatsby? Did you love it or hate it? What were you thoughts of Leo as Gatsby himself (I thought he was BORN for the role personally)?  Let me know!!
